Destiny's Child - August 8, 2000
Destiny's Child Beyoncé, Kelly and Michelle survived a turbulent year and came out on top! With the hit single "Say My Name" followed by a slew of industry accolades, these talented women are definitely fulfilling their destiny!

FOX.com_Host: Welcome Destiny's Child!!!

Beyoncé Knowles: What's up to all the chatters?

Kelly Rowland: What's up, What's up! Everybody we hope you have some exciting questions. We are really excited to be here!

Michelle Williams: Welcome everyone! Thank you for coming in on this chat.

tommygirl2303: How did ya all get together and form Destiny's Child?

Beyoncé Knowles: The group got together 10 years ago in Houston, Texas.
Beyoncé Knowles: We all met in elementary school.
Beyoncé Knowles: And we started singing together.
Beyoncé Knowles: My father began managing us, and we performed everywhere in Houston.
Beyoncé Knowles: Finally, someone was in the audience. It was a woman from Columbia Records.
Beyoncé Knowles: It was an expo and it was five years ago that we signed with Columbia Records.
Beyoncé Knowles: After they flew us to New York to do a demo. And we came out with our single "No, No, No" soon after that.

DESTINYCHILDnum1Fan: Who inspired you all to become singers?

Beyoncé Knowles: We all definitely share a lot of the same influences.
Beyoncé Knowles: I know Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, En Vogue, The Supremes...
Beyoncé Knowles: Lauryn Hill, The Fugees and Boyz II Men are a few.

dc_chic: I love you girls so much. I was just wondering what's all of your favorite songs on the newest CD?

Michelle Williams: Have to be “Jumpin, Jumpin” and "Confessions."

tommygirl2303: What do you like most about being on tour?

Michelle Williams: I guess traveling, coming in contact with fans who appreciate us and love us so much!
Michelle Williams: They just love it when we do autographs, come out and talk to them.
Michelle Williams: Personal contact is so important...for both the fans and us.

divastation: Kelly, I love your new song/video with that male artist. How did that come about?

Kelly Rowland: It actually came about when my manager told me about the opportunity. I was kind of a nervous because it was my first solo away from the group. Avant is very nice.
Kelly Rowland: Avant is a new artist on MCA.
Kelly Rowland: He is very nice and handsome.

babegrlnyc: How did you get the name "Destiny's Child"?

Kelly Rowland: The name came from the Bible.
Kelly Rowland: Beyoncé's mom was reading the Bible, reading the book of Isaiah.
Kelly Rowland: She saw a picture and under the picture read "Destiny."
Kelly Rowland: We couldn’t use the name "Destiny" because some other groups had the name. So between our manager and the record company they came up with "Child" and we liked it.

Champagne9: When is your next album coming out? And Kelly girl you did good singing with Avant. That remix is off the hook!

Kelly Rowland: Thank you! The next album will be out at the beginning of next year.

DCFAN4LF: How do you feel as a trio and do you plan to stay that way?

Beyoncé Knowles: It feels really good as a trio. I know we're all really stronger than we've ever been.
Beyoncé Knowles: We don't know if we'll continue as a trio, but we probably will.

Cherri: I heard Beyoncé's little sister Solange is touring with Destiny's Child as one of the dancers, is this true?

Beyoncé Knowles: Yes, it is! And she's doing a wonderful job, I'm very proud of her. :)

Tigerlove118: How's it like being on tour with Christina?

Beyoncé Knowles: We haven't actually seen her since we've been on tour with her!
Beyoncé Knowles: But being on her tour is wonderful because she has a lot of great fans and we have a lot of great fans too. It's nice to have the collaboration and be introduced to different people.

HotChick: Hi! Who are you touring with next? Are you glad you are going to be touring with them?

Beyoncé Knowles: Christina is actually going to be the last tour for this album. And we'll probably have our own tour next.

chic: Are you guys on tour now?

Beyoncé Knowles: Yes, with Christina. It started about two weeks ago.

Mark: How long is the tour?

Beyoncé Knowles: The tour is over in October.

tommygirl2303: Is there any special city you like the best?

Beyoncé Knowles: I really like performing in Los Angeles, because you always see celebrities there at the concerts! And it's cool 'cuz you get to meet celebrities.
Beyoncé Knowles: I know last time, we met Halle Berry! In L.A. there's always people in the audience!
Beyoncé Knowles: It's just exciting.

divastation: Have you toured internationally or only domestically?

Beyoncé Knowles: We've actually been over in Europe about 15 times now and we just left a tour in Australia that was really exciting.
Beyoncé Knowles: We're actually the first R&B group to be #1 there...it was really cool.

chris00: Hi, are you coming back to England in the near future because I think you are brilliant and would like to come and see you in concert if you are!

Beyoncé Knowles: Thank you very much! I'm sure we'll be there probably in December or January.

angelsmile: I heard that maybe you'll be on tour with 'N Sync, is it true?

Beyoncé Knowles: I heard that 'N Sync was doing a world tour in Europe at the end of December, and I think we're going to be there. It would be great to be on their tour. We're fans of 'N Sync.

greg: Hi I luv U guys so much! Why did one of the chicks leave and when will you be going on tour? If you are going on tour soon will you please go to the city of Saskatoon in Saskatchewan, Canada?

Beyoncé Knowles: For everyone who wants to know why Farrah left...
Beyoncé Knowles: we did MTV All Access and Farrah was very tired.
Beyoncé Knowles: Along with everyone else.
Beyoncé Knowles: And...we had a break, talking about why Farrah was so quiet during the interview.
Beyoncé Knowles: She said she couldn't take it anymore and went home to Los Angeles.
Beyoncé Knowles: The next day we had a show in Seattle, and MTV was taping the show for All Access and it was live on the Web.
Beyoncé Knowles: Farrah didn't show up for the show.
Beyoncé Knowles: I talked to Farrah later that day, asking her to please come to Australia because we had a week-long promotional tour.
Beyoncé Knowles: And lots of fans waiting for us!
Beyoncé Knowles: She said she didn't want to come.
Beyoncé Knowles: When we got back from Australia, the three of us continued as Destiny's Child wishing Farrah the very best.

skeeter: Isn't it true that she actually had some creative differences with you Beyoncé?

Beyoncé Knowles: No. If she had creative differences with us, they were differences that none of us were aware of.

amber: Do you miss her?

Beyoncé Knowles: Yes.

much_luv_4_DC: Would you consider having a male in the group?

Beyoncé Knowles: LOL
Beyoncé Knowles: We don't know.
Beyoncé Knowles: I don't want to say "no" because I don't want to make any males mad.

much_luv_4_DC: Are you looking for a fourth member or do you just plan to stay a trio?

Beyoncé Knowles: The good thing about us being a trio is all of us can really sing.
Beyoncé Knowles: All of us are potential lead singers, which has never been the case. So we can do things vocally that we could never do before.
Beyoncé Knowles: So unless the fourth member could really sing, there will be no need for a fourth member.

divastation: Doesn't it seem to you that y'all have a little more controversy than other groups?

Beyoncé Knowles: No. I think a lot of things are blown up. And when you're successful, people like controversy.

angelsmile: Who would you like to work with in the near future and why?

Kelly Rowland: I would like to work with Lauryn Hill. We wanted to work with her for the second album but she wasn’t available.
Kelly Rowland: Lauryn is so creative, a wonderful producer, and she is nice.

divastation: Do you always plan on singin' hip-hop/soul or would you like to expand into other genres?

Kelly Rowland: We would like to expand.
Kelly Rowland: Work with all types of music, from hip-hop, to R&B, to doing a song with Ray Charles.

chic: I heard you guys were doing a song for the Charlie's Angels soundtrack, is that true?

Kelly Rowland: Yes. It is called "Independent Women." Beyoncé got a chance to write and produce and we are very excited about it.
Kelly Rowland: And hopefully it will be out in less than a month.
Kelly Rowland: We didn’t get a chance to see the movie, but hopefully we will get to go to the preview.
Kelly Rowland: We have never been to a premiere before.

tommygirl2303: What did you all do before becoming Destiny's Child??

Kelly Rowland: We were just practicing every day.
Kelly Rowland: Practicing to get to this level, and now we are here.

Angel: Are you guys still friends with the two original members?

Kelly Rowland: We are still trying to settle some legal things with the past members.
Kelly Rowland: It will take a while to mend the friendship, though.

amanda: Are you girlz gonna be in a movie soon?

Kelly Rowland: We are doing a episode of "Jett Jackson" on the Disney Channel.
Kelly Rowland: We are really excited about that!

Ajian: Well, every man in America would like to know: Are you ladies single?

Kelly Rowland: Yes, Destiny's Child is very single.

draftsygirl: Who is the best video director you've worked with so far?

Kelly Rowland: I would have to say all of them, they are all the best, and they bring out the best in Destiny's Child.

divastation: Mary J. Blige has recently partnered with Stan Lee to create a comic book. Can you see Destiny's Child as superheroes? What would your powers be?

Kelly Rowland: That is a great question!
Kelly Rowland: I am putting Beyoncé on the phone.
Kelly Rowland: I would have the power of healing the world.

FOX.com_Host: That's so cuuute!

Michelle Williams: My power would be...

Beyoncé Knowles: C'mon Michelle...

Michelle Williams: I would be She-ra!!!

Beyoncé Knowles: What would I be? Hmmmm.
Beyoncé Knowles: I'd be the '90s "I Dream of Jeannie."
Beyoncé Knowles: Here's Kelly again...I don't know why she gave me the phone! :)
Beyoncé Knowles: I forgot! I said the '90s! I meant 2000!
Beyoncé Knowles: LOL

tommygirl2303: What would you recommend people doing to get into the music business and become a singer as yourselves?

Kelly Rowland: To make sure they really want it, it takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice.
Kelly Rowland: You have to work hard.
Kelly Rowland: And wherever you live try to perform there as much as possible so your name can get out there.
Kelly Rowland: Be patient and very humble.

much_luv_4_DC: As you can tell from my name I have much luv for you fine ladies, who do you all admire?

Kelly Rowland: I dont have a crush on anybody.
Kelly Rowland: Beyoncé is thinking, she thinks D'Angelo is hot, Justin Timberlake is hot, and Sisqo too.

Beyoncé Knowles: We could start some rumors...
Beyoncé Knowles: “I think D'Angelo's hot.”
Beyoncé Knowles: “Justin Timberlake is hot!”
Beyoncé Knowles: “And Sisqo too of course.”

Michelle Williams: "I like Prince William...he is a FOX!"
Michelle Williams: Shemar Moore is a hottie!!!

amber: Did you guys have any weird jobs before you guys made it big in the music industry?

Kelly Rowland: Beyoncé and Me got a chance to baby-sit kids between practicing and stuff.

Splat: Hi, ever since I was five I wanted to sing. How did you get the record companies and producers to notice you? I’m dying to know.

Kelly Rowland: We work really hard and performed everywhere in Houston.
Kelly Rowland: And one day while performing a rep from Columbia Records noticed us.
Kelly Rowland: And the rest is history!

draftsygirl: Where do you see yourselves and your music in 10 years?

Kelly Rowland: Successful.
Kelly Rowland: Still creating new sounds.
Kelly Rowland: And happy.
Kelly Rowland: And very blessed.

divastation: What is the true definition of a diva?

Kelly Rowland: The true definition of a diva is confidence.

Michelle Williams: They are intelligent.

Beyoncé Knowles: Talented.

Kelly Rowland: Full of beauty on the inside as well as the outside.

Mark: Do you consider yourselves divas?

Michelle Williams: Destiny's Child, we think that we are some great women, in this industry and in this world...but we are divas-in-training!!!

Cherri: I know y'all are spiritual, church-going girls...but a lot of performers nowadays seem to be very centered on using profanity and wearing next to nothing...how do you keep a balance between your relationship with God and your stage persona?

Michelle Williams: Well, God does want us to dress modest. And I think that we dress very modest. We carry ourselves in a positive way.
Michelle Williams: We are sexy, but classy. We may bare our stomachs, but we're classy.
Michelle Williams: We also believe that people can dress from head to toe, and still carry themselves in an inappropriate way.
Michelle Williams: And someone can wear next to nothing and can carry himself or herself in a classy way.

Tigerlove118: I like "Amazing Grace" and how you guys recorded it is awesome!!!

Michelle Williams: Thank you!
Michelle Williams: Amazing Grace was dedicated to Andretta Tillman.
Michelle Williams: I never got the chance to meet her, but she used to be Destiny's manager. She always wanted the group to do a gospel song. "Amazing Grace" was dedicated as a memorial to her life and what she did for Destiny's Child.

blinkgurl: Do you see yourselves as role models for kids and try to set examples?

Michelle Williams: Yes we do! We try to keep a positive air about ourselves. We never know the lives that we will change, who we will run into.
Michelle Williams: There are a few kids in the Make a Wish foundation, and their last wish is to see Destiny's Child.
Michelle Williams: And it makes us feel better, we can go to sleep at night, knowing that we have made someone's dream come true!
Michelle Williams: And then when that person goes to bed at night, in pain, and suffering, they can go on knowing that someone cares for them, and that their dream came true!!!

much_luv_4_DC: You truly changed my life.

Michelle Williams: Thank you!!! That's just another great honor for us, because as I said, we never know what kinds of changes we can make in someone's life.
Michelle Williams: We keep our songs positive, and hope to touch people of all ages.
Michelle Williams: And I'm glad that you say that you love Destiny's Child, we hope to change all your lives.
Michelle Williams: I’m sure "Sweet 16" on the album was for a young lady, I guess a young man could take those words and change them around for him. You can understand that you are still a child at the young age of 16, and have your whole life ahead of you.
Michelle Williams: Learn to appreciate your youth. And a man told me that it's not about the quantity of life you live, but make sure that the quality of life was good.
Michelle Williams: People can live to be 90 years old and be unhappy.
Michelle Williams: But if you have God in your life first, you will DEFINITELY be happy!
